Land of the Free is Complicit
The movie NAZA is made by two Israelis and explores the feelings of the Israeli Defense Forces as they decimate Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip. In the background, you watch Israeli families living in luxury buildings in Tel Aviv.
The first interviews are with the self described "tech" types who gather the phone numbers and addresses for the targeted kills. The computers make the final decision, all based on exact positioning and target value. They even know who the victims are talking to on the phone and what children will be obliterated. The title of the documentary, NAZA, is the Hebrew expression for collateral damage.
The interviewer then asks the techs what they think about the other family members who will be exterminated in airstrike. Do they ever think of the chaos they are spreading? But the computer analysts prefer to talk about how good they are in their jobs.
Later on, the interviewer turns to some Israeli snipers. A man describes how he would place food to act as bait for Palestinians. That way, he could sit back and pick them off as they tried to fill up their pots. The interviewer asks about the sniper's feelings after the killings: "exhilarated, "joyful," and "ecstatic."
The last scene has a Palestinian father with his face in the rubble hysterically calling for his children. In the background, several arms and legs protrude from huge slabs of crushed cement. Zionism is sadism. And our beautiful land of the free is complicit.
